DISCUSSION
Brief review of the first year,
CYBER SEENORS had several collaborative and successful events with two other NPOs viz. RHYTHM N VIBES 101 INT and 2. ICHS Iconic Community Health Service.
Events included

  1. Field trip in May to MIRROR MIRROR
  2. Community Outreach by way of painting a church parking lot
  3. Re-launch Workshop to include a special guest speaker and a youth musical presentation
  4. Three musical workshops focused on the positive effects of music on the mental health of seniors.
The workshops were very eventful with unrestrained participation by everyone involved. Young volunteers served and interacted with pleasure learning as they mingled with seniors in a meaningful way. Seniors in the group shared cultural meals and music and life experiences on each occasion.

FUNDRAISING IDEAS

Various ideas were suggested to raise funds for the organizations.
While we are extremely grateful to our sponsors so far viz; Government of Canada, SBCCI, and the Calgary Foundation for their financial support for the past year we still have a huge a challenge to meet our goals. Under consideration here are:

  1. Encourage seniors to buy, learn to play and own a musical instrument of their choice.
  2. The same will apply to youth of all ages

In both categories it is hoped that individuals who cannot afford the costs of instrument and tuition will be subsidized.
We feel that music is one of the easiest channels by way of which youth can connect with their seniors to have a more dynamic and productive society.
Consequently, our aim is to undertake a massive fundraising campaign so we can meaningfully impact the lives of our youth and silent generation through musical labs.
A number of commitments have been made by group members to involve themselves in our efforts.

We had refreshments and meeting adjourned
